They are extracted from the root, bark, wood, fruit, seed, leaves or flowers of these plants by a variety of methods; the extracted oil retains the characteristic odor, flavor and medicinal value of the original plant material. Watch carefully when you purchase essential oils because the cheapest way to extract many of them involves the use of chemical solvents and some oils are mixed with fragrance oils. Fragrance oils are not natural oils, but chemical scents like those used in perfume. Dakota Free Millenial Essential are all natural, 100% pure and undiluted essential oils. They are extracted naturally through steam distillation or by pressing and without the use of solvents. These oils are of high quality and free of adulterants. > Soybean Oil Information (the difference in soybean oils) Soybean oil has become a common ingredient in many foods and personal care products but not all soybean oils are created the same and therefore they do not all contain the nutrients necessary to fully benefit the skin and body. Two major methods are used to obtain soybean oil from the soybean itself; a chemical extraction method and a mechanical extraction method. The two methods result in oils with different characteristics. In the chemical process of extraction, the soybean oil is separated from the soybean meal and then refined using chemicals including a solvent; the oil is then put through several other refinements. The entire refinement process removes or destroys the levels of lecithin, vitamin E, mixed tocopherols, and other antioxidants that occur naturally In the oil. In the mechanical method of extraction, the oil is pressed from the soybean without using any chemicals. This process leaves intact the beneficial nutrients that are naturally contained in the soybean and eliminates any possibility of solvent residue remaining in the oil. Dakota Free uses organic and naturally processed soybean oil in our products. Oil that does contain the essential nutrients necessary for the soybean oil to be moisturizing and healing to the skin. Other considerations are also important when Selecting a product containing soybean oil: As you examine the ingredient list on a product, Look to see where soybean oil is listed in relationship to the other ingredients. The correct way for manufacturers to list the ingredients is from the highest content to the lowest. The closer that soybean oil is to first on the list, the more soybean oil the product contains. Some products use hydrogenated oil and the process of hydrogenation also destroys the important nutrients in the soybean oil. Some products, such as lotion bars, are formulated with soybean meal or soy protein instead of soybean oil and these ingredients also lack significant levels of the nutrients that are good for skin. Dakota Free uses only organic and naturally extracted soybean oil in our formulas. This oil and the resulting products contain the necessary nutrients to nourish, soothe and protect skin on a daily basis. > Safflower Oil Information (why use Safflower Oil?) Safflower oil is becoming one of the worlds most sought after vegetable oils by health conscious individuals. It is an almost odorless, light and quick to absorb oil that is gaining recognition in the skin care field. It also has become a frequently recommended dietary oil for several reasons: because it is high in unsaturated fatty acids, it is highly stable, has a high smoke point and significant levels of vitamin E. Regardless of the oil you have chosen, different extraction methods will influence the characteristics of that oil. There are two main methods used to obtain safflower oil from the safflower plant; a chemical extraction method and a mechanical extraction method. The method used does make a difference in the finished product. In the chemical process of extraction, the safflower oil is extracted from the plant material and then refined using chemicals including a solvent. The refinement process removes or destroys compounds in the oil that are beneficial to the skin and body such as vitamin E; this process can also leave traces of the chemicals and solvents used for extraction purposes in the finished product. In the mechanical method of extraction, the oil is pressed from the safflower seed without using any chemicals. This process leaves intact the beneficial nutrients that are naturally contained in the safflower and eliminates any possibility of solvent residue remaining in the oil. Dakota Free uses naturally expeller pressed safflower oil in our products, oil that does contain the essential nutrients necessary for the safflower oil to be moisturizing and healing to the skin. Other considerations are also important when selecting a product containing safflower oil or other vegetable oils: As you examine the ingredient list on a product, look to see where the oil is listed in relationship to the other ingredients. The correct way for manufacturers to list the ingredients is from the highest content to the lowest. The closer that safflower oil is to first on the list, the more safflower oil that product contains.
